It’s not something you’d typically think of doing on vacation, in fact it may not be something you’ve ever heard of! Geocaching is an outdoor activity and requires the use of a GPS receiver or mobile device to discover containers, typically called geocaches or caches. Caches are waterproof containers with log books to document the date of your find, and often have a token exchange with contents normally consisting of unusual coins, small toys, ornamental buttons etc.

Grand Haven is well known for many of its iconic landmarks and downtown shopping district, but the Visitors Bureau has recently launched a new Geocache Series called the “Road Less Traveled”. The series was designed to take locals and visitors alike to areas in Grand Haven often overlooked.

With 26 hidden caches throughout the Grand Haven area and many more hidden throughout the United States, start your treasure hunting adventure during your next staycation!
