As a part of the very popular and successful Pure Michigan Tour campaign, the Grand Haven-Spring Lake Waterfront Holiday Inn was proud to host the Great Voice of the Great Lakes, Paul W. Smith and his WJR morning broadcast on Wednesday, May 7th from 5:30a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Dubbed by the Wall Street Journal as “the king of talk radio in Detroit,” Paul W. is the only broadcaster who has been asked to fill in for the biggest names in the business. Paul W. has a warm and conversational style that kept us tuned in that day.
We hosted a welcome dinner the night before the broadcast for Paul W and his crew. Our amazing culinary team impressed us once again with a tasteful feast. We started with appetizers that included fresh vegetables and stuffed dates and moved on to salad that consisted of fresh field greens tossed with gorgonzola cheese, cranberries and candied walnuts topped with our homemade walnut vinaigrette dressing. Dinner was a tender and mouth-watering Filet mignon wrapped with bacon and served with celery root puree, fresh asparagus and sour cream and chive potato croquet. We finished the evening’s dinner with fresh chocolate covered strawberries and chocolate mousse. Yum!
This amazing dinner is just one example of what our team can prepare for events of all sizes. He purchases Michigan grown and local products whenever possible. Our popular Whitefish and Perch are harvested right here in the Great Lakes. The bulk of our fresh produce and all of our fresh herbs are grown in Michigan. Our salad dressings and delicious sauces are made in Michigan as well. Whether you visit Jack’s Waterfront Bistro and Bar for dinner or hold an event with us, you will be treated with exceptional customer service and can be sure to taste the freshness of Pure Michigan.
The early morning of May 7th dawned with a powerful thunderstorm as a prelude to the great morning broadcast conversations. Our General Manager April Schmidt and Director of Development Larry Lenchner spoke about our fully renovated hotel and exceptional customer service. Director of Sales Vonni Loynd shared information about our amazing full-service property and all we have to offer for weddings, meetings and events. We were very excited to see the Grand Haven Coast Guard boat pull up to our docks during the interviews! Commander Sean Brady spoke with Paul W and shared some of the many duties of the Grand Haven “Coasties”. Mike Smith joined the conversation, adding valuable information about the annual Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival. Dave Lorenz, Pure Michigan Manager from Travel Michigan shared information regarding this week’s “Michigan Cares for Tourism” and Ray Sierengowski spoke on behalf of Hudsonville Ice Cream. Governor Rick Snyder called in for a great discussion of the Pure Michigan campaign, the beauty of the lakeshore and Grand Haven area and both Governor Snyder and Paul W were looking forward to participating in Holland’s Tulip Festival parade that afternoon.
