Winterfest is a weekend long event that happens the last weekend in January every year. The weekend is filled with numerous indoor and outdoor activities for all ages to enjoy some winter fun. Winterfest has been a Grand Haven tradition for more than 30 years.
Some of the more popular activities from the 2014 Winterfest were:
The Cardboard Sled Race:
This event is held at Mulligan’s Hollow every year and it is a race where contestants must build a sled to go down the course, but the only materials they can use are cardboard, duct tape, and paint. Participants are rated not only on speed down the hill, but creativity of the design of the cardboard sled.
Every Michiganders favorite game! This is a great event for those who take their card playing seriously.
Snow angel contest:
The kids will love this event! Best snow angel wins, there is even decorations provided to make your snow angel even more unique.
Jack Frost’s Winter Warmer:
This event is to help you warm up after a long day in the cold! We open our outdoor Tiki Bar at Jack’s for a few hours to serve our signature Rum Runners, serve food, and warm up. The Grand Rapids Griffins Mascot ‘Griff’ was there for the kids to meet and get pictures with.
Be sure to head out to Winterfest next year and be sure to stop by Jack’s Tiki Bar afterwards to warm up! And incase you missed it, here is a video of the Holiday Inn Team’s cardboard sled!
